About The Maker
Ellie is a designer/maker living in South East London. She works out of her studio in Deptford where she makes wheel-thrown tableware.
Ellie completed her BA in Product and Furniture Design at Kingston School of Art with first class honours in 2021. However just before final year she did an Erasmus year on the Danish island of Bornholm, and this is where her focus moved purely towards ceramics. It was also there that she was an apprentice at Hjorths Fabrik in Bornholm learning production pottery on a kickwheel in a traditional ceramics workshop.
Ellie now lecturers part-time in 3D Design on the Foundation course at Kingston School of Art.
Care for the pots
Pretty much everything is made from stoneware, which is a high fire type of clay. The glazes are all food safe. They can go in the dishwasher and microwave but those are pretty intense environments so try not to put them in there too much!
